Q: Where can I read Trinity?
A: My first drafts are available to read upon request, and they will be emailed in pdf format only. But remember, some of the drafts are 4-5 years old, and not only has the storyline changed significantly in places, but my writing has improved a lot in the last few years. My short stories can be read online at Fiction Press, and links to each can be found here in the Shorts section. My favourite parts of the second drafts can be read in the Excerpts section, but my third drafts however, will not be given out, so please do not ask.
Q: Is Trinity one book or a series of books?
A: It was originally going to be one book, but it has since grown far larger than I ever anticipated, and is now a trilogy of books, the titles for which are: A Twist Of Fate, The Betrayal Of Darkness, and The Circle Of Time. I am also planning to put together a fourth book, compiling all of my short stories, as well as a few scenes that are being cut from the 3rd draft that I feel can be made into short stories.
Q: Where do you get your reference information from, particularly mythology/demonology information?
A: Google is your best friend. I have several really good sites that I frequently check when I need specific information, and these include DeliriumsRealm, Timeless Myths, Celtic Deities and Adopt A Demon. These are just a few of my favourites, but if I want something really specific, you can't go past a detailed Google search.
Q: Will you beta read for, or co-write with me?
A: As much as I love reading other people's work, and as fun as it is to co-write, the answer is no. Between work and studying I barely have enough time for my own work, and would not be able to devote the time and attention necessary to someone else's work.
Q: How do you come up with your ideas? What inspires you?
A: I read a lot, and I will admit to borrowing ideas that I have read elsewhere, but I also rely a lot on reader feedback and suggestions from friends. And dreams. You can get so many crazy ideas from dreams alone! But the most important thing is strong characters. Having characters that can take charge of a situation and write themselves really makes things a lot easier!
Q: Where did you learn to write, and what courses have you done?
A: I haven't taken any official courses in writing, apart from high school exercises. All I have done is written whatever came into my mind, in whatever form or style seemed to suit at the time. Granted, taking a course would probably help a lot, but you can gain so much just by writing and reading. If you write the style/genre that you read, then you can learn a lot from your favourite authors.
Q: Is Trinity all you write?
A: Definitely not! If it were I'd go insane. I have completed the first draft of a second manuscript (for those in the know, Worlds Apart) and I've also finished a series of 5 short fantasy stories (The Myaniscarr Chronicles) as well as several short stories. My more recent works can be found on Fiction Press, and I have also been known to write fanfiction in the past (links to which can be found in the Links section).
Q: Are you ever going to get published? I'm sick of waiting for this book!
A: Hopefully one day I will, and I can put you all out of your misery! But be warned, I'm a perfectionist, and I will not be sending my work out until I am 110% satisfied that I have done the best that I possibly can. It could be a while yet, I'm afraid.
