Jaid and Renae doing a bit of window shopping
“Wow! They’re having a sale on Dopey plushies!” Jaid said excitedly, pointing towards the window of the Disney store, where several rather large stuffed dwarves were being advertised as 30% off. Renae rolled her eyes.
“What would you do with a giant Dopey?” she asked, and Jaid shrugged.
“It’s more the fact that it’s a giant plushie,” she pointed out. “Besides, Dopey’s cool.”
“Says one dope about another,” her friend shot back.
Taken from: Chapter 7 of the top-secret 3rd draft. 18th of December 2009.
Although the third drafts won't be posted anywhere online, I thought that I would add this little box in so that you can keep track of my progress. Although I have new names for the three books in the series, I'm still using the old names as chapter titles, and as a guide for when a new arc in the story begins. As such, you can refer to the "Trinity" section of this site to get a rough idea of where in the story I'm up to.
Stats as of: 1st of January 2010
Book = A Twist Of Fate, book 1
Page Count = 113
Word Count = 44,418
Chapters = 7 complete, with 2 pages of chapter 8 complete
Arc = The Jade Rabbit arc
I'm a writer who picks character names based on either their origins or their meanings. Usually it's a deliberate choice, but with Trinity, some of the names that I picked at random turned out to have a significant meaning once I looked into it. So, here are my character's names and what they mean. I have also included a note as to which names were deliberate, which were accidental, and which I just liked regardless. Adrian = A Latin name meaning "Dark". <-- Deliberate. Luke = A Latin name meaning "Light" or "Bringer of Light". <-- Deliberate. Harmony = A Latin name meaning "Harmonious". <-- Deliberate. Alisha = In Hindu it means "Protected". In Greek it means "Truthful". In German/English it means "Noble". <-- Accidental. Jaid = A Spanish name meaning "Jade" or "Daughter". <-- Accidental. Renae = A Latin name meaning "Reborn". <-- Accidental. Andraya = A Greek name meaning "Trusted by God" or "Royalty". <-- Accidental. I actually thought I'd made this name up! Tyler = An English or French name meaning "Tile Maker" or "Tailor". <-- No real significant meaning. I just liked the name. Kyle =A Gaelic name meaning "Strait of Water". <-- No real significant meaning. I just liked the name. Imogen = In Latin it means "The image of her Mother". In Celtic it means "Maiden". <-- Deliberate. Bryant = An Irish name meaning "Strong and Honorable". <-- Deliberate. Rian = In Scottish Gaelic it means "Little King". In Irish it means "Kingly". <-- Bit of both. It's a variant on a girl's name that I liked, with a meaning that fit. Ellie = A Greek name meaning "Shining Light" or "Most Beautiful Woman". <-- Accidental. Elouise = A German name meaning "Famous Warrior". <-- Accidental. | |
Here are images of the cars that are featured in the short story Grand Theft Deception. Personally, I'd love to own the Porsche! 911's are my favourite cars!
Andraya's Porsche 911 -- Tyler's Aston Martin DB9 Volante
Ok, so I know I haven't written any stories with any other cars, but I have been thinking about what sorts of cars my other characters would own, so I figured I might as well post them up. Yes, I'm a bit of a car nut, and I love the fancy super cars!
Adrian's Lamborghini Murcielago -- Alisha's Ferrari 360 -- Luke's C3R Retro Corvette Stingray
Jaid's Beetle -- Harm's BMW Z3 Roadstar -- Rian's Ducati 1098
