Trinity: A Modern Mythos

Trinity Short Stories

Because I have quite a collection of short stories, I thought that I would house them all here! Posted below are the first few paragraphs of each story, followed by a link to where you can read the full story online at Fiction Press. I hope you enjoy!

The Goddess's Puppy

Adrian Douet scowled, causing his dark eyes to narrow into annoyed slits. She’d jumped again, just as he had been closing in on her. The four-year-old immortal was most likely enjoying her game of hide-and-seek, yet her father was fast losing what little temper he had.

“Found you,” he growled as he once again located his daughter’s energy. She was in, of all places, the Greek Underworld, and Adrian, having located her, was fast on her heels.

The twenty-six year old had been left in charge of the young Andraya whilst her mother – Harmony Torrens – had taken the day off to hang out with Adrian’s twin sister Alisha, and their friend Jaid Halifax. Adrian had assured his partner that he would be able to take care of Andraya on his own, yet the young man had been fast to regret this assurance when, not ten minutes after Harmony had disappeared, their daughter had decided that she too was going to leave home for the day ... Beware, It's Smut

Alisha And Nuada

Tahiti: a tropical paradise for any newly wed couple. Romantic and secluded beaches, gorgeous sunsets, and more sunshine than rain. For one couple in particular, Tahiti was playing host to their honeymoon. Alisha and Nuada had arrived on the island early that morning, and the couple had spent their day on an isolated beach, enjoying one another’s company. As a result of this, Alisha’s olive complexion had darkened almost to brown, making a stark contrast between her colouring and Nuada’s, whose creamy skin didn’t tan as easily ...

Luke And Jaid

The sun had barely risen, yet Luke was already awake. Lying within the warm confines of his bed, he turned his head slightly and gave a smile as he saw his young wife asleep next to him. Jaid was lying on her side, facing him with an arm draped across his chest underneath the blankets. With a small sigh, Luke tenderly kissed Jaid’s forehead, before gently lifting her arm and slipping out from underneath the covers. He didn’t want to leave, but the young god had appointments to keep and agendas to stick to. Sometimes it really sucked being the one that was in charge ...

Adrian And Harmony

She’d done it again. With a sigh, Harmony glanced around the room that she was in, and closed her aqua coloured eyes in annoyance. It wasn’t the first time that this had happened, and the young goddess knew that it wouldn’t be the last time either. But she couldn’t help it. When she was home all by herself, she got lonely, and curling up in Adrian’s sheets, with his smell all around her, always helped her to sleep at night. But now it was morning, and although she could sense that neither Luke nor Adrian were home yet, she knew that one or both of them were bound to show up sooner or later ... Read More

The Piper's Call

“No way,” Imogen Douet flatly refused, shaking her head and sending her light brown curls – that had been ironed into huge ringlets – bouncing around her face.

“Come on, it’ll be fun,” Rian Halifax-Douet said in his best pleading voice. “Bryant said that he would come if you did, so please?” he tried, doing his best to convince his cousin.

Imogen fixed him with narrowed green eyes. “You want to go traipsing around the fifteenth-“

“Thirteenth, actually.”

“Thirteenth century, and for what? To chase up a myth? Nope, sorry, not doing it,” the eighteen year old Celtic goddess said, folding her arms firmly across her chest.

“Please?” Rian tried again, and the sixteen year old’s blue eyes had a look about them that Imogen was finding hard to say no to. When he grew up and completely came into his powers, Rian was going to be the most powerful god on the planet; he was a hard person to refuse.

Imogen sighed. “Fine, but I don’t have to like it,” she grumbled, and Rian beamed at her.

“Awesome! It’s never any fun doing this sort of thing on my own. I always end up breaking something,” he chuckled, remembering what had happened the last time that he had messed with the past. He had almost destroyed the world, and it had very nearly cost him his own immortality and powers to set things right again. This time however, things would be different.

“Why exactly are we chasing after the Pied Piper for anyway?” Imogen asked curiously as they set off to find her twin brother.

Rian shrugged. “It’s just something that’s been bugging me ... Read More

Grand Theft Deception

The young woman with the dark brown mane of hair and iridescent hazel eyes stalked through the showroom as if she were bored by what she was seeing. Her clothes betrayed her financial situation – clean blue jeans and a button up black blouse – and the salesmen were eyeing her with disdain. She didn’t care; she ignored them with all of the arrogance of one who could have anything she wanted with the snap of a finger.

Elsewhere, a young man with neatly cropped black hair and brown, almond-shaped eyes that hinted at his Chinese heritage was also surveying the expensive vehicles that were on display. He was also wearing nondescript jeans with a plain deep green shirt, and was also being watched carefully by the salesmen, yet the attention didn’t seem to bother him; he was on a mission ... The Mortal Fate

There it was again; something different moving through one of the immortal worlds. It had been in ancient Egypt a moment ago, and was now in ancient Greece. Rian Halifax-Douet frowned as he tried to get a firm feel for whatever it was, and yet he was coming up blank. Literally. Whatever it was, it had no discernable power, and yet it was very much there. The young man didn’t know what to make of it, but there was one thing that he knew for sure – he had to find whatever it was, in case it meant trouble.

Running a hand through his dirty blonde hair, the eighteen year old sighed as he made up his mind to go after the strange presence that he had been feeling for the past two days. Slipping his leather duster on over his casual shirt and jeans, Rian soon disappeared from his home in a flurry of wind.

Reappearing on the streets of ancient Greece, the teenager didn’t automatically see anything strange. Nothing seemed out of place – the old streets held the usual bustle of immortals going about their business. The sky overhead was a clear blue, and the wind coming up from the Mediterranean sent a shiver down his spine. It was winter in the northern hemisphere, and Rian was glad that he had remembered to grab his coat. With a frown, he started towards the glistening blue of the sea, following the strange presence that had led him here ... Read More

The Scarlet Crown

It was a perfectly clear night in Ireland, with the black sky covered in thousands of pinpoints of light. For the two people who were sitting together underneath this sky, it was a perfect moment in their lives. The young woman with the long light brown hair sat leaning against the chest of a young man who seemed inhumanly beautiful. Whilst the woman herself was strikingly attractive, the man was by far more captivating. Even in the dark night, his long hair – long enough that it had been swept aside to avoid him sitting on it – shone like beaten gold, and rippled with a silken smoothness that no amount of professional hair care could ever accomplish. At first glance, his eyes appeared to be an earthy brown colour, yet under the light of the moon they could actually be seen to be a shade of red. His skin was like ivory, flawless and smooth, and whilst his body appeared slender and graceful, he was in no way weak. His arms, with their long and elegant fingers, were wrapped around the young woman, holding her close in an intimate embrace.

The woman snuggled back against the warm fibres of the man’s clothing, breathing in his earthy scent. Her name was Imogen Douet, and not only was she a Celtic goddess of the Light Realm, but she was also a member of the clan of immortals known as the Tuatha dé Danann, otherwise known as the Aes Sidhe. However, her mother had at one stage been an ordinary human, and as such Imogen was only half Fae, yet it was this blood that gave her her stunning appearance and fickle nature. With her cascade of honey brown hair, shining green eyes and startlingly perfect features, Imogen had never had any trouble capturing the attention of any male who crossed her path, and her latest catch was no exception ... Trinity New Year's

Bradfield Park at Milsons Point on Sydney’s North Shore was an open grass area that extended underneath the northern end of the road, offering as close a view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge as was possible from land. The only people who were closer were the ones who were bobbing around on the harbour in their boats. Even though the New Year’s celebrations were still hours away, the park – that had a maximum capacity of five thousand – was already full of people. Vehicles had been prohibited from entering until 2 am on the first of January, yet with Milsons Point train station only a short walk away, streams of people kept arriving every minute.

When the group of five young adults arrived on the scene, they pushed their way through the never-ending mass of people until they had reached a spot near the water’s edge. Dumping their picnic gear onto the grass, the three members of the Trinity set about erecting a protective circle of power around their site. Not only would the circle protect their belongings, but it would also stop any of the drunken partiers from stumbling into their particular spot. With the crowds that the Sydney fireworks display attracted, such precautions were perfectly reasonable if they wanted to hold onto their campsite ... Read More
